The Gagosian gallery in Grosvenor Hill in London will be showing all the films about Lucian Freud and Frank Auerbach on 23rd January. This is part of its programme to accompany the Friends and Relations: Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon, Frank Auerbach, Michael Andrews exhibition.
2pm: Freud: Omnibus (39 min.) – The only full-length, filmed interview with the artist. Recorded at the time of his exhibition at the Hayward Gallery in 1988.
3:15pm: Frank (56 min.) – The artist artist’s responses to seeing the work after a break of anything up to 60 years. An obsessive painter’s personal manifesto.
4pm: Lucian Freud: Portraits (66 min.) – An analysis of the artist as seen through the eyes of those who have been best placed to study him; his sitters… family and friends from David Hockney to Brigadier Andrew Parker Bowles.
6pm: Frank Auerbach: To the Studio (55 min.) – Filmed in his studio, talking about his sitters, his routine, his compulsions, strange rituals, his ambitions and his heroes.
Jake Auerbach will attend Q&A’s after each film.
